Curriculum
Within Willows Haven, we support children in working towards a successful transition into the mainstream school environment. Our classroom is designed to provide access to core learning subjects, including Phonics, English, and Maths. We follow the same schemes used in mainstream classrooms, such as Little Wandle for Phonics and the Ark Curriculum Plus “My Mastery” programme for Maths. In English, Mrs Grainger draws on the National Curriculum aims within the CUSP Curriculum to deliver a multi-sensory approach that promotes engagement for all learners. Each pupil follows a personalised timetable to ensure their individual needs and abilities are met through a child-centred approach.
Mrs Grainger places strong emphasis on emotional regulation as a foundation for effective learning. To support this, the Zones of Regulation curriculum has been introduced and embedded throughout the provision, helping pupils develop the skills needed to manage their emotions during focused interventions. Additional specialist interventions are also used to promote holistic development. These include Attention Autism, which supports joint attention, communication, and social interaction skills, and Friendship Terrace, a social skills programme that helps children develop positive friendship skills and improve peer interactions.

Parent Communication – Class Dojo

We place a high value on maintaining strong communication with parents and carers. This includes celebrating your child’s achievements and progress, as well as sharing personalised information related to their intimate care and other essential needs.
We have access to class dojo in order to stay in contact with parents. Parents can message the class teacher and we can share photos, news and important messages with each other. We like to hear about all the wonderful learning that happens at home, you can add observations too!
