Youngsters from Stanton Primary School bring joy and festive cheer to village church by creating decorations

A group of talented artists from Suffolk have created Christmas decorations for their village church.

The youngsters from Stanton Community Primary School were tasked with making festive trinkets by their local vicar.

They have now recently dropped off their creations in time for upcoming yuletide services.

The partnership between the school and All Saints church in Stanton has been blossoming since The Reverend Cathy Bladen came to the village in 2018.

The Revd explains: “Students come to see us at Christmas, Harvest, Easter and Remembrance and I also go to the school. The relationship between the school and the church is excellent and its growing.”

In terms of this project, The Revd continued: “In the past the theme was angels – but this year it’s all about joy – and we will decorate the church with these absolutely beautiful decorations. Youngsters are our future – and our now – and we value the relationship with the school – it’s all about supporting each other in the community.”

Liz Bonnelykee is the headteacher of Stanton. She said: “It’s great to be associated with the church not only through this project but others. We regularly donate to church organised food banks and it’s essential we foster strong links in the village that will help educate our students and make them more rounded individuals. It’s always a proud moment to see the church looking so amazing at Christmas thanks in part to the children’s decorations.”

Ellen, seven from the school said: “I enjoy working with the church. It’s been very nice.”
